From Battle to Beauty

Originally built in 1943 as a U.S. military vessel to carry heavy supply loads and troops, the Pacific Yellowfin has traversed the globe, eluding detection and storing her mysteries. She has served in research expeditions by the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Navy.

After accommodating millionaires, mischief-makers and rapscallions, today she serves as an exclusive private yacht charter, offering access to breathtaking Pacific West Coast wilderness destinations in an intimate, lodge-style setting.

Lovingly Restored

Captain Colin Griffinson purchased the Yellowfin in 2000, renamed her the Pacific Yellowfin, and modernized her features while preserving her original charm and historical integrity. The lovingly restored log-cabin interior reflects the rugged BC coastline. Constructed almost exclusively with native timbers, the wooden grandeur has been preserved, and its varnish glows throughout the ship.

Modern Amenities

The entire ship was refitted and refurbished from top to bottom, inside and out: staterooms, bathrooms, kitchen galley, saloon, wheelhouse bridge, engine rooms and decks.. She was mechanically retrofitted, rewired and converted from DC to AC power. Modernized to meet today’s safety standards while carrying passengers comfortably and in style.

Watch Captain Colin in our “Wheelhouse Chats” video series talk about his “wooden boat disease” and the colourful history of the Pacific Yellowfin.
